My Own Tutor is committed to supporting our nation’s schools and to helping the children who attend them to get the very best out of their education. This part of the website is dedicated to serving the schools and students who attend them.

This part of the website is devoted to promoting literacy and numeracy through a special competitions portal exclusively for the use of schools, individual students and families. This element of the service is absolutely free of charge, but does require participants to register with us.

The competitions zone will have competitions (all focused around maths and English and creative projectives) which provide fun competitions, competitions with prizes, competitions between schools and for collaborative creative competitions.

It was designed for us by Sturminster Newton high School in Dorset. Sturminster Newton High School is a specialist school in Maths and Information Technology and is an early adopter of the IT Diploma. Students from Gillingham School and Shaftesbury school also attend the Diploma at Sturminster.

We asked Sturminster Newton High School to coe up with a design for this part of the website. The study group of year ten students was divided into six groups and the groups competed with each other to come up with a design which we would be using on the site.

The final three short-listed gave their final presentation on the 23rd November 2009, and the quality was so high, that we decided to use elements of all three designs in parts of our website. The Schools/Competitions zone is collaboration between two of the successful groups.

We are delighted with the work which the school produced and will be continuing to collaborate with these talented web designers.
